Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero was an American performer and model. She was co-starring in Prince's 1984 film, Purple Rain. She was known as co-star with Prince in his 1984 film Purple Rain, and the vocalist for the girl group Apollonia 6 Her name was among the female artists who benefited of Prince's involvement during the 1980s. Patricia Kotero, born 1959 in Santa Monica California began her career as a model and actress. In the late 70s she appeared on CHiPS. Kotero was a lead actress in Prince's Purple Rain in 1984 (when Prince also changed her name). Also in the same year, she replaced Vanity in the trio Vanity 6 and performed with them as Apollonia 6 in the film. They scored a small record with Sex Shoter but it was in the role of Prince's duet partner on Take Me with You from the soundtrack, that she created more impact on the charts. In the aftermath of a falling out about the direction she wanted to take in her career Apollonia 6 broke up and Kotero ended her association with Prince. The following years, she appeared in several minor film projects. (She reportedly declined to take part in an upcoming Purple Rain film Under the Cherry Moon.) The singer later landed a role in the evening drama Falcon Crest between 1985-1986. Apollonia's debut album debuted in 1988. However, the R&B/dance tracks were not well received by the public who purchased music. After a while, the album vanished. The actress continued to perform (if a bit under the under the radar) and appeared on TV in small parts, films of minor importance and a DVD for exercise. Apollonia's album Stay With Me came out in 1997. Then, she went back to school and earned the degree of filmmaker. In addition, she founded her own production company. Apollonia Kotero can be found wearing many hats. Formerly, she was a model, actress, and talent supervisor. In her capacity as an actress, she's well-known for her part in the 1984 movie Purple Rain.
